Large scale figurative drawing and mixed media Abstract Expressionism were my route through to printmaking.
An earlier training and practice as a commercial photographer developed a critical eye for form and lighting, this is my passion and it drives me to make prints that have the unique qualities that only printmaking allows. 
I exploit the medium’s ability to layer and emboss and to produce sculptural forms that give the illusion of three dimensional artworks. 
Many of my prints are derived from low relief sculptures that I create from mixed media artefacts including, among others, paste, plaster filler and carborundum, these are stuck and carved on the plate before being sealed ready to print.
The papers that I employ need to be strong and for my purpose I chose thick heavy rag paper.
