Helen Martino
I am a potter and through the Printmaking MA I have been investigating print on clay as a fine art image rather than decoration.
I make ceramics which often embody a sense of narrative or place. Each piece explores an element within a story or a moment of time. My intention is to imply the greater narrative we can each create in our own minds when viewing the work.
My images refer to Mogul and Persian miniature paintings. Here, an often intricate and symbolic composition, captures a moment which tells both a past and a future story.
For me it is not just the image that matters, whether on clay or on paper, but it is the surface and how the piece is shown.
