My work explores the way we interact with other people, and with our physical environment. I am particularly fascinated by the tension between our experience of being individuals, able to determine our own path; and conversely our recognition that our actions are determined by the cultural and physical environment in which we find ourselves. We feel independent, but can only express that within the context of the real world we inhabit. You can’t build igloos in the Seychelles!
All my work stems from my drawings, and currently my prints are mainly woodcuts or etchings. The images shown here explore the feelings of anxiety we sometimes have when meeting others.
